This own-initiative opinion aims to clarify empirically how post-secondary vocational education and training (VET) can have an added value in terms of labour market, learning outcomes, opening new educational pathways and social mobility in the EU. The goal of this initiative is to involve civil society ant social partners in the debate as well as to present the viewpoints of academics, governmental bodies, social partners and NGOs on the issue of VET. These contributions will serve as a basis for the discussion in the study group and will be reflected in the EESC opinion.
