Questions answered by Francesco Pannuti, Chief Executive Officer, Bruno Iafelice, Company Strategy, and Massimiliano Saporito, Business Operations Nethical.
– Where are you based? We are based in the historical and beautiful city of Bologna, Italy.
– What are you called? Vitaever, a business unit of Nethical company.
– What are you doing and why? We develop Vitaever technology to innovate healthcare by enabling home services. Vitaever is smart and intuitive. It can be used to manage home-based patients as well as hospital services. Our business model has no cost for installation, maintenance and server hardware in order to make Vitaever available to large as well as to small organizations. Vitaever generates a great value for both patients and medical organizations. We do that because in last decade the population is rapidly ageing. As a consequence of this the patient demand of home healthcare is increasing, as well as the investment of national governs in developing new healthcare paradigms, in particularly to reduce the hospitalization cost of chronic diseases.
–Do you have a website? www.vitaever.com.
-What makes you so special? We are a team of technology enthusiasts who want to change healthcare and make a great social impact. Our technologies are designed for both well developed countries with a need in optimizing hospitalization costs as well as for fast developing countries where healthcare needs to be rapidly improved.
The turning point
–How did you start? After a three year cooperation with ANT Foundation (running the largest home hospital for cancer in EU) we decided to launch the Vitaever project. It was self-founded and took benefit from both the wide technical background of our people and the solid medical expertise of ANT Foundation.
– What keeps you going every day? Working everyday with brilliant and talented people to build a successful company from a startup.
– Who is your target? Medical organizations running home services or willing to do that. Most of the users of Vitaever are organizations assisting chronic patients at their home. We are talking with hospitals willing to extent the care at home – e.g. after surgery or birth. We are also exploring fast growing countries, such as Bangladesh willing to adopt the state-of-art of technologies for developing modern infrastructures.
– How are you financed? Right now we are bootstrapping the company with personal funds and we are self-financed by customers.
The challenge
– A proud moment? When Vitaever started bringing benefits to ANT in managing its 3.300 and more patients. We are also very proud of our long list of successes, the last one is the European social innovation award.
– A problem you face? Several technical issues were faced during the Vitaever project. Open source technologies and core custom made blocks were mixed in order to address high performances and security.
– Your personal motto when things get hard? Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
