Un’email a Bush: ora che fai per l’inquinamento?

La Casa Bianca ha confermato l?intenzione del Presidente Bush di ritirarsi dal Protocollo di Kyoto, coni cui per la prima volta i Paesi industrializzati avevano stabilito di ridurre le emissioni di gas serra. «Una decisione grave», ha dichiarato Laura Radiconcini degli Amici della Terra Italia. «Gli Usa si erano impegnati a tagliare del 7% sui livelli del ?90 le proprie emissioni di Co2, che rappresentano il 20% del totale mondiale». Per protestare e chiedere conto delle intenzioni di Bush, la Federazione internazionale degli Amici della Terra-Friends of the Earth ha invitato tutti a mandare un?email a Bush, e nei giorni scorsi oltre 50 mila messaggi hanno già intasato la Casa Bianca. Il testo è il seguente: «Dear President Bush, the US has the highest per capita Co2 emissions in the world. People around the world already faced with the first signs of climate change, suffering from floods and hurricanes, expect your country to be in the forefront of tackling climate change. Indeed the United States should live up to their commitment to the Un negotiations to prevent global warming. An enormous potential of creativity, innovation and efficiency is there to be harvested once governments decide to really reduce Co2 emission. For 3 years after Kyoto, Us have lagged behind without proposing anything concrete, only resisting. Now you want to pull out from the Kyoto Protocol, but at the same time you and your Government admit that climate change is a serious concern and should be addressed. So what do you propose instaead to the international community in order to tackle the climate change?
