The European Commission’s micro-grant program for the support of Ukrainian Grassroot NGOs ?Further Strengthening of Civil Society? has started the implementation phase in spring 2006. The program is designed for socially oriented NGOs from different regions of Ukraine.
The Kiyv Delegation of the European Commission is currently supporting 15 social projects from Rivne (3), Volyn (1), Kherson (2), Mykolaiv (1), Donetsk (6), Chernivtsi (1) and Transcarpathia (1). Grants awarded under this program fall between 15.000 and 30.000 EUR.
It is expected that all the projects will have a significant impact on the quality and quantity of social services offered to the target groups: street children, persons with disabilities, elderly, HIV-positive, and families of drug addicts and prisoners.
However, the projects selected by the EC Delegation for Kherson and Mykolaiv region, are in the first line dedicated to building NGO capacity in finances and management, and developing local philanthropy.
