Ashoka’s Changemakers and Nike have partnered to open a worldwide competition to recognise innovative projects that use the power of sport to achieve real social change.

Ashoka?s Changemakers and Nike have partnered to open a worldwide competition to recognise innovative projects that use the power of sport to achieve real social change.

Organisations and enterprises running suitable projects are invited to enter by submitting details of their work to the Changemakers? website which is an initiative of Ashoka, a leading international social innovator for social change. The site provides solutions and resources online to support social innovation around the world, and features numerous other competitions to showcase third sector organisations.

The competition is open until 8th January 2008 and in the following three weeks a panel of judges, comprising of influential leaders in the field of sport for social change, will select approximately 12 finalists. Details of the finalists will be posted to the Changemakers? website enabling its online community to vote for the overall three winners, who will each receive $5,000.

The project aims to raise awareness of how sport can play a role in creating social benefits and tackling social problems.
