UK: social enterprise calls for specialist support
A new policy paper focuses on the specific support required by social enterprises
The UK’s Social Enterprise Coalition (SEC) has published a new policy paper that sets out the case for appropriate and targeted provision of business support for social enterprises.
The paper outlines how social enterprises differ from mainstream businesses and explains the barriers they typically face when accessing support. It also highlights the uneven provision of support across the regions of the UK, and makes a number of recommendations for regional development agencies and the government.
The paper will be reviewed by the Department for Transport and Industry, Cabinet Office and HM Treasury.
The report can be downloaded from the Coalition’s website at www.socialenterprise.org.uk/Page.aspx?SP=2037
