UK: Radio company to run campaigning slots

The GMG Radio network has axed two of its daily news programmes to provide a slot specifically for bulletins about campaigning.
The Manchester-based radio network ran two 15-minute news programmes, as well as news bulletins, on its 13 FM radio stations, including Real, Century and Smooth. The network describes its new campaigning slot, The Big Story, as an umbrella title for its news specials and campaigning journalism.
The mainstream news programmes will go from all of the network?s stations except for Rock Radio, but the news bulletins will remain. The news comes after the network received four nominations for its news coverage at this week?s Sony Radio Academy Awards.
