UK: Midlothian Social Enterprise Centre receives start-up funding
New and existing social enterprises and micro businesses in Midlothian, Scotland, are to receive support from a new Midlothian Social Enterprise Centre which will encourage and promote entrepreneurshi
The Centre is being created by McSence Workspace Ltd ? part of community organisation McSence Group – with a £800,000 grant from The Big Lottery Fund. It will support up to 16 businesses, including at least two new social enterprises and provide employment for 20-30 people.
Brian Tannerhill, Chief Executive of the McSence Group welcomed the news and said: ?This grant, together with additional funding from the European Regional Development Fund and McSence itself will enable the development of flexible light industrial, office and training facilities for use by local social enterprises and business start ups.
Based in the heart of the local community, this project will continue the McSence mission to create long-term sustainable employment and training opportunities within commercially viable community-owned and managed facilities that will leave behind a valuable asset for future generations.?
