UK: Ethical supermarket chain opened new store
Out of This World, has opened one of Europes largest organic supermarkets in the UK
The ethical supermarket chain, Out of This World, has opened one of Europe?s largest organic supermarkets – in Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne.
The 3,000 square foot supermarket, inside Gosforth shopping centre, is 50% bigger than the co-operative?s previous store nearby which was opened 10 years ago and has attracted a loyal following from ethical Newcastle shoppers.
Out of This World only stocks produce that is either organic, ethical, fairly traded or locally produced. It will not stock food with artificial colouring, additives or GM ingredients.
Out of This World General Manager, Jon Walker said: ?With the support of Newcastle shoppers we have now established ourselves as a real, substantial ethical alternative to the modern faceless supermarket giants. We hope the new store will attract even more shoppers.?
Out of This World also has plans to open another new store shortly elsewhere in the North of England to add to those already operating successfully in Leeds and Nottingham.
