UK: Charity promotes virtual volunteering for young people
The initiative asks young people to lend eight hours a week to help with projects such as designing a website, producing music or videos, and promoting yoga for health and education
The Virtual Volunteering project – organised by the Choose Action
Alliance and supported by v, the youth volunteering charity – is
building on the launch of its new section on
www.TheSite.org/chooseaction by calling for young people aged 16-25 to
help an organisation, campaign or individual via the internet or
telephone.
Led by Changemakers, the youth-led learning organisation, the Choose
Action Alliance is appealing for young people across the UK to spare at
least eight hours of their time to get involved, take action and 'give
back'.
Choose Action
The Choose Action Alliance was founded in 2005 and is a collaborative
partnership between four UK-based youth volunteer organisations:
Changemakers; Youth Action Network; Worldwide Volunteering; and
YouthNet.
The Choose Action Alliance has partnered with the Student Volunteering
Team at Volunteering England for the Virtual Volunteering project.
