Towards a career with the UN: Step five, the associate experts programme

Young professionals who are graduates from universities or institutions of higher education can acquire professional experience within the UN Secretariat through the Associate Experts Programme even if they have limited or no professional experience. The programme, that recruits young professionals under bilateral agreements between the UN and nineteen participating governments (Australia, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and United Kingdom), is open to under 30 year olds who have a degree in the area of development, a strong command of English and at least one other working language of the UN.

The studies that are usually considered relevant are: medicine, economy and commerce, political science, sociology, statistics, international relations, law, engineering and computer science, although others may be considered as well.
