Coffee giant Starbucks has announced it will offer work placements to young people as part of a five-year partnership with the Prince’s Trust, Christina Farr of Third Sector Online reported.
Starbucks said it would provide two-week unpaid work placements in its coffee shops in Manchester, Nottingham, Brighton and Glasgow to disadvantaged young people.
The coffee chain said it would also sponsor the publication of a booklet aimed at local employers to encourage them to follow its example.
Martina Milburn, chief executive of the Prince’s Trust, said: “Having the support of a company such as Starbucks is an exceptional opportunity for the Prince’s Trust, enabling us to help more disadvantaged young people into work.”
To kick off the partnership, Starbucks has sponsored the creation of a book, Inspired* by Music, which will be sold in its branches from this week.
It features celebrities, including pop band Take That, London mayor Boris Johnson and actor Al Pacino, talking about songs that have influenced them.
Proceeds from the book will be donated to the Prince’s Trust.
