Spain: Girona increases funds for cooperation
The Catalan town council of Girona increases the funds devoted to solidarity and co-operation

Girona town council has increased by 8% the budgetary item devoted to solidarity-based and co-operation projects carried out by local non-profit making organisations. The total budget now amounts to more than 110,000 Euros. This money is granted in the framework of an annual call for projects pursuing one of the following objectives: development aid and humanitarian aid at the international level; the promotion of civic solidarity with poor countries or in a serious drawback, the reinforcement of tolerance, intercultural dialogue and the prevention of racism, and the strengthening of the culture of peace and the peaceful resolution of conflicts; and the development of the local network of solidarity-guided NGOs, including foreign migrants. www.ajuntament.gi/solidaritat/cat/ajuts.htm
