Spain: Breaking with tradition, a way for NGOs to innovate
Neuronilla, a little creative neuron to help NGOs innovate and become more creative ... why? Because creativity helps to raise public awareness and save money

By 2001 new, imaginative ways of raising awareness began to be experimented by NGOs that wanted to draw public attention to the things they were denouncing or calling for. This is the case of the organisation ?VdeVivienda? that calls for decent housing for everyone.
An increasing number of NGOs are understanding that to raise public awareness creativity and imagination are of the utmost importance. But in spite of this, the sector as a whole has not yet made a decisive step forwards towards creativity. According to a member of a Foundation called ?Neuronilla para la Creatividad y la Innovación? (A Small Neuron for Creativity and Innovation), generally speaking NGOs are more worried about keeping their structures in order and that they do not know where to get the resources they would need to increase creativity.
Neuronilla counsels and trains enterprises, institutions and organisations on how to look at things in a more creative way. Sometimes, creativity also implies saving money but it demands an ability to break with tradition and to be more flexible, as well as moving towards another behavioural pattern and losing the fear to risk.
