There are few organisations in the world that support social enterprise like the Skoll Foundation. Since 1999 it has given 270 million dollars to support social entrepreneurs working in fields as diverse as international development, deforestation, healthcare and sustainability.

Every spring the Skoll Foundation presents their Awards for Social Entrepreneurship, which give some of the world’s most talented social entrepreneurs a three year core-support grant as well as a non cash award.

Applications for the 2013 edition of the award opened on January 4 and will close on March 1, 2012. To be considered, organizations must meet one specific criteria: to have a tested and proven social innovation that addresses an issue of critical importance and is positioned for large-scale impact. If you want to find out whether you qualify read the criteria and follow the eligibility quiz carefully.

The Skoll Foundation was founded in 1999 by Jeff Skoll and invests in, connects and celebrates social entrepreneurs and the innovators who help them solve the world’s most pressing problems. Last year the Award was granted to Gawad Kalinga, Landesa, Nidan and Proximity Designs.
