Doing a course at Schumacher College (Totnes, Devon – UK) goes a long way beyond teaching and learning – it’s a unique, total experience. Former and present students show it well through the passionate way they talk about their experience, often coming back as volunteers, and through the seed they everyday spread around the world. The entire college is a living classroom where learning is transforming and inspiring change agents for a planet with a future. An Earth under the law of Gaia.

Inspired in E. F. Schumacher – known mostly for his book “Small is beautiful”, one of the most respected book on economy and sustainability – the College’s motto is “Transformative Learning fir Sustainable Living”. And everyone we talked to confirmed it: it’s really a transformative learning. “There is no distinction between living and learning, everything is an opportunity to learn” assures Mel Risebrow, the manager of Schumacher College.

Students come from all over the world, with different interest, jobs and lives, but they all have felt somehow that we have reached a crucial point worldwide, where we need to approach the necessity of more sustainable life styles.
