di Stefanie Schiffer

End of May 2006 the International Social-Ecological Union and the International Ecological Raiting Agency presented the fourth ecological raiting report Eco-Top 100 with data about the energy efficiency of the hugest Russian companies. The report was compiled with the support of the World Bank in Russia and comprises information about ecologically most problemtatic areas as: use of water and land, industrial waste, air pollution, ecological balance of traffic and transport. The report is based on information sent by the enterprises themselves and on open information as published reports, and information from the State Commisision on Statistics. The lowest energy efficiency is to be observed in the energy sector ? as gas and oil production and coal-mining though in this sector the greatest positive development towards energy-efficiency takes place. The Russian food industry is characterised by a negative tendency concerning energy efficience as technical innovations and investemetns have been neglected during the last five years. www.biodat.ru
