Where are you based? Budapest, Hungary.

What are you called? Mahatma Gandhi Human Rights Organisation.

What are you doing and why? We work to integrate refugees and organise cultural activities, sport against racism, tolerance campaigns in secondary schools. We also want to start communication between the members of the Hungarian society and the African community living in Hungary, through cultural activities performed by these foreigners living in Hungary.

The Mahatma Gandhi Human Rights Organisation is also one of the partners of the “Football for Development” project, which includes four European and six African partners and aims to explore the potentialities of football as an effective tool for development.

What makes you so special? Our work, which is based on multiculturalism and human rights.

 

The turning point

How did you start? Our human rights organisation was founded in 1992. The main aim of the organisation is to protect asylum seekers and refugees.

What keeps you going every day? Hard working and contact with other organisations.

Who is your target? Refugees and asylum seekers.

How are you financed? Trough project proposals.

 

The challenge

A proud moment? When we received the human rights award from the Hungarian Football Federation (MLSZ).

A problem you face? Refugees integration and education to tolerance.

Your personal motto when things get hard? Developing new strategies.
