Italy: Low cost fair trade now a reality
Lidl supermarkets join the bandwagon and launch their own fairtrade product line, complete with the usual suspects: chocolate, brown sugar, tea & coffee. This time at a fair price too

Fairglobe. This is the name of a new food brand available in 450 Lidl supermarkets across Italy, supermarkets that are well known for their affordable price range. Fairglobe, that will include eight different food products including brown sugar, coffee, orange juice tea and chocolate, aims to give low cost consumers a new choice: to go fair trade. The Fairtrade brand guarantees that the social criteria that makes fair trade products fair is being met, and that the rights of workers in the producing countries are being fully respected. The added value this time is that consumers can make their choices at a fair price too.
