Italy: Clean energy on offer

Since February, in Italy it is possibile to book 100% green electric energy for domestic use.

di Redazione

On the occasion of the first birthday of the Kyoto Protocol, Legambiente and ?La 220 Spa? launched the sale of the ?green 220?, an electric energy exclusively produced by certified renewable sources. Given the future liberalisation of the market of Italian electricity, Legambiente and ?La 220 Spa? have undersigned an agreement to sell totally ecological electric energy at a lower price than the one presently paid in Italy. Green electricity supplied by ?La 220? complies with the European certification RECS, which certifies that energy is produced by renewable sources. People who have a VAT number can already obtain the supply of green electricity whereas, from the following week, domestic consumers will have the opportunity to book it avoiding the crowding in 2007 because of the liberalisation. Green electric energy will be produced just with water, sun or wind. Many are the advantages of the booking: financial (at least 14 days of energy per year free of charge), practical (avoiding waiting lists) and mostly ecological (using just green certified electricity). Because of the booking Legambiente and ?La 220 Spa? will have to propose energy at promised prices and to respect declared environmental criteria. Consumers won?t be obliged to undersign a contract: by enquiring they will receive a contractual proposal and will be put on a waiting list, free to make their decision as to enter the contract or not. www.la220.it
