The event will be hosted at the historical building of Palais de Chaillot, where the UDHR was adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1948.
This will be a key international opportunity to review global progress on this issue over recent years and chart the developments ahead. The Seminar will bring together business, political, civil society and trade union leaders as well as diverse learning from around the world.
The Seminar will be chaired by Mary Robinson, Honorary Chair of the Business Leaders Initiative on Human Rights and President of Realizing Rights: The Ethical Globalization Initiative. Internationally renowned speakers include: Irene Khan, Secretary General, Amnesty International and John Ruggie, Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on the issue of Human Rights, Transnational Corporations, Other Business Enterprises.
This year’s event builds on the success of the Business and Human Rights Seminars organized in London in 2003, 2004 and 2005 (www.bhrseminar.org). Representatives of both the Business Leaders Initiative on Human Rights (BLIHR) and a francophone programme, Entreprises pour les Droits de l’Homme (EDH) are participating in a Paris-based Steering Group that has brought together NGOs, Government and business representatives.
Registration is now open online. Detailed information on the programme, registration conditions and the background of the Seminar are available on the Seminar website.
