Hungary is ranked 27th regarding the number of automatic attacks, which means that a large number of computers in Hungary collect personal data automatically, said PR and marketing manager of the company Hedvig Bartha at a press conference in Budapest on Tuesday.

According to findings of the study, data-fishing is still a problem, and now attacks are also directed at websites considered to be reliable by users, such as community portals. In the second half of 2007, Symantec spotted 87,963 data fishing hosts, a growth of 167% compared to the first half of the same year. Of the targeted brands, 80% belonged to the financial sector.

Symantec also found that perpetrators sell the stolen pieces of information. Bank card data, their most advertised "goods," can be purchased for as little as $10. According to the report, 90% of attacks are now targeted against end users rather than financial sites.

The Symantec Global Internet Security Threat Report is published twice a year and has appeared for the 13th time. The study is based on data provided by 40,000 users in 180 countries.
