Happy Birthday Italy

Come to Turin and enjoy a non-stop 5 days celebration!

di Cristina Barbetta

Happy Birthday Italy is a wonderful opportunity for young people to gather in Turin, Italy’s first capital city, and celebrate together the 150th anniversary since the Unification of the country  (17 March 1861). The event, which will take place from 7 to 11 July 2011, is organized by ThinkYoung, a Brussels based think tank that aims to make young people’s voices heard in the world of EU affairs.

The young rebels of the Risorgimento, the political and social movement that brought to the Unification, were people who, “despite their social, cultural and political differences, decided to exploit a common momentum”. Happy Birthday Italy wants to bring back to life the spirit of these inspired young people , bringing enthusiasm, fresh ideas and desire to have fun. 500 young people from all over Europe and beyond are expected to attend the event, sharing best practices, discussing and giving a renewed impetus to intercultural understanding, democracy, respect, diversity, human rights, solidarity and active citizenship in Europe.

Join this exciting celebration! Happy Birthday Italy only costs 50 €, which includes 4 nights’ accommodation, food, parties, transportation in the city, museums and conferences! You only have to register on the website.

Guests will participate to many workshops dealing with the European Union, the Balkans, Entrepreneurship, the Middle East Revolutions, the Environment, Energy, Education, the Relationship of Europe with Asia and the US and much more!
