Two years ago the gritty mining city of Puertollano discovered another energy source it had overlooked: the sun. Subsidies rushed in, green jobs were created and the region experience a boom. Today though, these subsidies have been pulled – the government having seen no end to them, and the failure of the operation is clear to all.
