The participants of the `Caravan over New Walls in Europe`, after their visits of Srebrenica, Bratunac and Tuzla, visited Sarajevo and met with Josip Jurišic, Deputy Mayor.

After Sarajevo, the caravan organized by the Peace and Human Rights Tent NGO from Monfalcone, Italy, plans to visit Jablanica, Mostar, Bihac and Prijedor.

The project aims to meet with people who suffered through wars, to contribute to understanding of cultural, social and natural complexities of the heart of Southeast Europe and improve the relations between cities and regions of Italy and BiH through concrete projects.

The Association informed Jurišic with the initiative to organize the Global Peace March, created in Barcelona and supported by the Mayors of all cities in the world that carry the message of peace, including the Mayor of Sarajevo Semiha Borovac.

“The Global Peace March shall last for three months. It will start in New Zealand in October 2009, and will go through Australia, India, China, Russia and pass through Sarajevo”, says Stefano Senni, represenatives of Peace and Human Rights Tent NGO. The association will participate in the implementation of the Global Peace March.

Jurišic said that Sarajevo is the right place for the Global Peace March because of the things it went through in recent past, being a symbol of multiculturality and unity, and for its work on promotion of peace in the world through the Association of Cities Carriers of Message of Peace. He informed the visitors from Gorizia with the political and territorial structure of Sarajevo and the past cooperation with sister-cities in Italy.
