GERMANY: honouring ukrainians who fight human trafficking

On September 7th the International Organization for Migration Mission in Ukraine and USAID/ Ukraine honoured individuals and organizations that fight for human rights

The President’s wife, Mrs. Kateryna Yushchenko delivered the evening’s keynote speech. H.M. Queen Silvia of Sweden participated in the Ceremony and highlighted the occurence of trafficking in children. Earl Gast, USAID Mission Director, Yuriy Pavlenko, the Minister of Family, Youth and Sport, Yuriy Lutsenko, the Minister of Interior, and Jeffrey Labovitz, Chief of Mission of Ukraine attended the meeting and contributed to raising awareness about the prevalence and alarming scale of the problem of human trafficking. IOM has been active in Ukraine since 1998 and has assisted more than 3,000 Ukrainian migrant workers
