The second  Innovation Convention will take place on 10 and 11 March 2014 in Brussels. It is an essential part of the Innovation Union flagship initiative, the European Union strategy which aims to create an innovation-friendly environment that makes it easier for great ideas to be turned into products and services that will bring our economy growth and jobs. The first edition was described as “a creative collusion of some of the world’s brightest people from across all sectors involved in research, innovation and science”. This second edition will be even bigger, with over 2000 participants. The convention provides a platform to debate and inform policies that will contribute towards the building of a research and innovation eco-system in Europe that can support this objective.
The event  will take place under the patronage of the President of the European Commission, Mr José Manuel Barroso, and will feature inspirational speakers from a range of backgrounds.
The event is for anyone involved in innovation, from the worlds of research and business to those involved in policy making and funding innovation.
