France: Hiring quite only disabled people

Bretagne Ateliers works quite exclusively with disabled people

di Zesst

In Rennes, anybody is aware about the industrial and social performance of Bretagne Aleliers. This social enterprise is working for years for the car industry as a subcontractor as well as for local businesses. Its financial results are really impressive and after a big investment in new premises, Bretagne Ateliers is securing an equity scheme to boost its future development. 80% of its staff (740 people in total) are disabled, but hired by choice and not by law constraints (if referring to the compulsory 6% quota for businesses with more than 20 employees). In two years time, explains Françoise Perrier, the social manager, “more than 100 jobs have been created “. Large industrial firms are seeking to co-operate with Bretagne Ateliers, not because of the costs of its products which are market-priced, but for the efficiency of the structure, and may-be to comply also with the legislation, indirectly. www.bretagne-ateliers.com
