France: Developing a new car/bicycle-sharing

Since its inception in Lyon in 2002, " La voiture autrement ", a system of car-sharing which is affordable and convenient for medium-income city dwellers, is expanding its national network with newcomers partners. This non-profit organization owns a series of cars (some electric-powered ones), located in public car-parks, which are available for its affiliates/members. After successful experiments in Strasbourg, Marseille and Grenoble, this new mobility facility is interesting other urban areas. With a more ecological emphasis, an important bicycle-sharing service is due to start in Paris under the aegis of the municipality. The idea is to revise the principal functions of some streets, giving more place to slow riders and buses/taxis, instead of introducing a toll at the Paris entrance. auto.partage.free.fr
