How to Escape the City
Escape the City is a London-based online platform for corporate professionals who want to 'do something different' with their careers.
Escape the City evenings are a fun way to spend an evening with some friends, meet some interesting like-minded people, and hear from someone who has an interesting story.
These events are for those who are in a job that they know they don’t want to be in forever. And they are not quite sure where to start when it comes to transitioning into meaningful work. This event is designed to give practical insight into how to find meaningful work.

Mont Blanc Meetings (MBM) side-event in the United Nations
On February 4th, The Mont-Blanc Meetings (MBM) – International Forum of the Social and Solidarity Economy Entrepreneurs will organize a side-event in New York at the headquarters of the United Nations in the framework of the eighth session of the Open Working Groups on Sustainable Development Goals.
In collaboration with the Research Institute of the United Nations for Social Development (UNRISD) and the United Nations Liaison Service with the Non-Governmental Organizations (UN-NGLS) and with the support of the governments of France, Ecuador and Morocco, the MBM organize this side-event on the following theme: "Social and Solidarity Economy: Changing economic relations for equity and sustainable development in the post-2015 agenda". This will be an opportunity to present the final declaration of the 6° edition of the MBM, the international leading group of the social and solidarity economy (SSE) and the recent creation of theinter-agency taskforce of the United Nations dedicated to the SSE of which the MBM are a member with observer status.

European seminar: Evaluating and Monitoring Apprenticeship and Traineeship Schemes
The seminar will be an interactive event providing an overview of the role of monitoring and evaluation in improving the effectiveness of traineeship and apprenticeship programmes.
It will also provide a critical analysis of monitoring and evaluation practices with focused sessions on methods for evaluation covering use of data, monitoring, impact and economic evaluation.
The seminar is hosted by DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion, and is part of the European Social Fund's Technical Assistance to Member States on apprenticeship and traineeship schemes.

Workshop "Future of social housing: environmental and social challenges and the way forward"
UNECE and UN-HABITAT, in cooperation with the European Federation of Public, Cooperative & Social Housing (CECODHAS), will hold the workshop "Future of social housing: Environmental and social challenges and the way forward" from 4 to 5 February 2014 at the Palais des Nations, Geneva.
The event will develop different concepts of social housing and identify the main challenges that ECE countries need to address. Participants will discuss how to: provide and finance social housing; improve social cohesion and living conditions; reduce energy poverty; and promote environmental sustainability.
The workshop will include a field trip (free of charge, including transport) to an exposition of energy efficient technologies at TA Hydronics, in Nyon

Strategies and Models for Growth
This seminar is aimed at established social enterprises trading in public sector markets considering different approaches to growth. It is the second in the E3M social enterprise growth seminar series.
The seminar will explore a range of strategies and models for growth. Using successful case studies it will look at the legal, financial and practical issues involved and with commentary from experts in the field.
The seminar programme is based on the E3M values of ‘learning together’ in which E3M members and partners share their practical knowledge and experience with one another and with the wider social enterprise movement.ì

Internships and Enterprise Networking Event at Queen Mary
The day will celebrate a year of entrepreneurial activity at Queen Mary University of London.
February 2013 saw the launch of the university new internship programme which has placed QM students and graduates in internships with start-ups and small to medium enterprises, enabling students to gain skills while helping local businesses get their feet off the ground.
During 2013 the university also supported 18 QM students and staff members to start up their own enterprises ranging from bicycle workshops to nurseries; and plan to develop even more of our student entrepreneurs in 2014 with support from our partners Santander and Unltd.
Over the evening some of our student interns, entrepreneurs, and employers will be sharing their experiences and achievements so far.

EVPA Training Academy- VP in practice: the fundamental toolkit
On 10 February EVPA head office in Brussels, Philanthropy House, will host the second module of the EVPA Training Academy Course: VP in practice: the fundamental toolkit. The focus of the second module will be on how to manage impact during the investment process and exit strategies. Participants will share their experience, learnings, successes and failures in implementing the takeaways from the first module. At the end of the course participants will be capable of applying best practices in their own due diligence work. Their proficiency will allow them to assess the management and develop a constructive relationship. They will be able to provide the SPO with the appropriate non-financial support and will anticipate an exit. The second module of the EVPA Training Academy is the first of a number of further trainings and events throughout the year.

Capacity building seminar: What migration and integration measures are needed for employment, education and social inclusion?
Migration and integration policies are shaped in the context of European co-operation on socio-economic and financial affairs, justice and home affairs, and international relations and development. Different policy-making rules and mechanism apply in these areas. This meeting will discuss what migration and integration measures are needed and how can they be put on European agendas. The Migration Policy Group will present its findings of a review of annual reports prepared in the framework of the Europe 2020 Strategy and by DG Home Affairs, where they have studied what policies and practices are reported on and what Country Specific Recommendations are made.
