Children and Youth in Crisis – Protecting and Promoting Human Development in Times of Economic Shocks
Previous attempts at comparative research on the impact of crises on individuals, in particular on children and youth, have been largely ad hoc. This is the first time that research has been undertaken in a systematic and rigorous way, across different settings on the effects of financial shocks on the development and well-being of children and youth.
The research provides a synthesis of experience and evidence on the impact of crises on children and youth, leading directly to recommendations for policy change.

SenseCamp Berlin 2013
SenseCamp is an event dedicated to social entrepreneurship and social business. It brings together social entrepreneurs, social business enthusiasts and the MakeSense gang for one full day of inspiring talks, interactive workshops and networking. MakeSense is a global grass-roots and open-source movement to promote Social Entrepreneurship and to accelerate the impact of Social Entrepreneurs.
There will be a huge BarCamp on February the 9th, a succession of several simultaneous workshops, whose content will be brought by the participants themselves and scheduled the D-day. The format’s flexibility blurs traditional notions of speakers and listeners and creates a highly interactive experience of shared learning and development.The SenseCamp is also unique chance to experience the MakeSense Hold-Up format of innovation workshops for social entrepreneurs. Both seasoned social entrepreneurs and simply interested in the topic will find a place to discover and exchange new ideas, actionable insights and success/failure stories.

'European Year Of Citizens Kick-off'
The European Commission has named 2013 "European Year of Citizens" to raise awareness about Union citizens' rights in shaping the future of Europe.
On 19th February the European Commission and the European Parliament kick off the European Year of Citizens with a special hearing on EU Citizenship. It will look at practical solutions to remove obstacles, still encountered by EU citizens in their daily lives, especially relating to free movement and political rights.
Even though progress has been made there are still hurdles for citizens to benefit from their rights as EU citizens, as a
public consultation by the Commission shows.

Children First and Foremost: Realising the rights of children and families in an irregular migration situation
This international conference seeks to consolidate both PICUM’s work on undocumented children and PICUM’s two-year capacity-building project entitled “Building Strategies to Improve Protection of Undocumented Children in Europe.” The conference will highlight the difficulties undocumented children face in accessing rights such as education, healthcare and housing, and the good practice strategies that have been developed to surmount the practical and administrative barriers to accessing rights. This will also be an opportunity for PICUM to present the project’s final publication, a guide on protecting the rights of undocumented children in Europe.

How can we ensure that the developing financial models will work for the housing sector? This
HACT seminar will focus on new models of social investment and finance, and the opportunities for housing providers.
