The European Commission has established a European network of 20 journalists specialised in social protection and social inclusion and has set up a website where their publications can be accessed free of charge.
The aim of the network is to give visibility to social policies undertaken in Europe since 2000 and to contribute to the understanding of the issues that surround social exclusion and poverty. The network also aims to promote good practices, effective approaches and innovative techniques in order to improve the coordination of approaches to social problems within the European territory.
Among the themes dealt with are: child poverty, homelessness, long term health care and the inclusion of vulnerable groups.
Through the web site a number of fact sheets, good practice articles and the network?s newsletter, Exchange, social protection and inclusion in the Eu, can be downloaded as well as an EC publication on social cohesion in 21 languages.
