EU: Commission’s international development magazine relaunched

The Courier ACP-EU was relaunched after a break of three years and the third issue of the new edition has been presented at a conference in Bologna on 14th December

The Courier ACP-EU, the international development magazine published by the Development Directorate General of the European Commission, was relaunched after a break of three years and the third issue of the new edition has been presented in a conference in Bologna on 14th December.

The conference was an opportunity to discuss on the role of media and communication within the development cooperation and the partnership between ACP (Africa Caribbean and Pacific countries) and EU (European Union) countries.

The relaunch issue focuses on the dossier Energy: Potential for major development in Africa.
For Europe, Africa is a leading partner in energy and other raw material supplies, the dossier takes an in-depth look at the present and future partnership between Africa and Europe and the opportunities that the energy sector can offer to both sides.
The issue also includes reportage from East Timor.

The Courier aims to encourage a better knowledge of ACP countries, to give information on the ACP-EU partnership and cooperation and to encourage the debate on development.
After a break of three years it is being published again every two months with a new design in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese and it has about 80,000 subscribers. It is financed by the European Development Fund.

The presentation was attended by Nicole Seurat, France embassy delegate in Bologna, Andrea Marchesini Reggiani, Le Courrier ACP-UE PR manager, Giovanni Bersani, Italian senator and founder of CEFA (Comitato Europeo per la Formazione e l?Agricoltura), Ranieri Sabatucci, Head of the secretary of DG Development and ACP-EU relationships.

The speakers have included representatives from magazine on cooperation and intercultural dialogue as Raffaella Chiodo, journalist of Ilaria, magazine on Italian Cooperation; Aldo Herlaut, Secrétaire Général di Culturesfrance; Alain Sancerni, director of Riveneuve continente journal; Sandra Federici, director of Africa e Mediterraneo journal.

The Courier is produced by an editorial team of four ? balanced between men and women and between the EU and ACP ?, an assistant editor, a webmaster and a small group of freelance associates from ACP and EU countries. The new edition is supported by GOPA-Cartermill, Lai-momo and Grand Angle.
