Community Channel and The Sunday Times are seeking the UK’s social innovator of the year

“The Change Makers” is a competition run by Community Channel’s Do Something Brilliant campaign in partnership with The Sunday Times. The aim: inspire people across the UK to do something brilliant and celebrate those individuals whose ideas have had a big social impact.

The Change Makers  is a celebration of individuals who have made a difference- inspirational social entrepreneurs who have found  innovative and enterprising solutions that  over the last 5 years have had a positive  social impact in the community or society. The competition aims to inspire people across the country to do something brilliant and to spark social change.
The Change Makers competition is run by  the Community Channel’s Do Something Brilliant  campaign, funded by Big Lottery Fund,  and The Sunday Times and is also run in association with SparkNews Impact Journalism Day, a global campaign to promote social action. 
The winner of the competition will receive  national coverage in The Sunday Times, Britain’s biggest-selling Sunday newspaper, and will be profiled globally through participating Impact Journalism Day newspapers in 40 countries  around the world.  The prize also includes professional communication support from The Sunday Times and Media Trust, £1,000 cash to put forward the innovative ideas and national television profiling  on Community Channel, which is broadcast into 26 million UK homes. 
The Change Makers  competition is open to UK residents aged 18 and over. The innovative idea must have had a measurable positive social impact, must be replicable and must still be used today.  Individuals can nominate themselves or nominate an eligible individual.
Applications deadline is August 25 and the winner  will be announced on 14 September 2014
