A model sustainable city for 150 thousand people is being built near Paredes, in Northern Portugal. A far cry from the hippie earth ships of the 70s and the cooler real estate developments like Masdar, Abu Dhabi, this will be an IT-wizard’s dream. The concept is that the city will “live”, like an organism. Its brain will be a central computer that regulates everything from its water use to energy consumption.
