Brussels: Euclid Network AGM

Catherine Ashton speaks about civil society. An untapped resource for the Global EU?

di Liuba Jannsen

The European network of non profit leaders, Euclid, is today holding its Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in Brussels. The event, whose theme is Civil society: an untapped resource for the European Union across the world, this year features two VIP speakers: Catherine Ashton, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Vice-President of the European Commission and the Vice President of the Parliament, Gianni Pitella.

Does civil society hold the key to solutions for the global recession? Can it be the driving force for Europe and European principles? How can civil society engage with European foreign policy? Hopefully the answer to these and other questions will be available to us by 4 pm tonight, when the event is scheduled to end.
