Initiated by Ashoka Changemakers, a global online community connecting people to inspire and mentor each other and find and support the best ideas in social innovation, the competition seeks employees within multinational corporations (from “inside out”, as the initiator labeled it ) who are pioneering innovative projects that can transform society and business. These projects can include innovation in product development, supply chain management, human capital or business models.
Intrapreneurs are people with entrepreneurial talents who decide to align their skills in a large organization instead of creating one of their own. The concept of intrapreneurship, although not new, is now being applied to employees who are finding innovative ways to align business objectives with societal needs.
The top 15 entrants from the competition will form the inaugural class of the League of Intrapreneurs, becoming part of an elite global network of changemakers. Of this league, the top four winners will be profiled on Fast Company’s blog, Co.EXIST, and will receive consulting support from Accenture Development Partnerships to further their work.
