EU Law on Equality between Women and Men in Practice
The principle of equality between women and men has been part of EU law since the signing of the Treaty of Rome in 1957. Since then, a considerable body of legislation has been adopted on matters such as equal treatment in employment and occupation, health protection in the context of maternity, parental leave or access to goods and services. The seminar will provide an overview of the content of these Directives as interpreted by the European Court of Justice in its large case law on this topic.

Conference on Roma women
This conference is organized by the European Women’s Lobby and the Hungarian Women’s Lobby. The objectives of the conference are: to highlight the need to have gender and the specific needs of Roma women at the heart of the implementation of the European Roma strategy that will be announced in June 2011 and to expose the main issues affecting Roma women and girls in Central and Eastern Europe and offer a platform for national and European decision-makers as well as Roma women’s organisations to discuss them.

This seminar will give participants a detailed understanding of the changes to European law in relation to migrants, particularly workers, in more detail. It will discuss the effect of the end to the transitional arrangements covering eight central and eastern European countries, and look at good practice in working with migrants in relation to housing.

This conference will focus on the European Disability Strategy (2010-2020), as this document sets out the possible thematic areas for actions linked to the implementation of the UNCRPD. The conference will bring together all key stakeholders, including especially, the relevant representatives of the civil society.

23 April is a symbolic date for world literature for on this date in 1616, Cervantes, Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega all died. It is also the date of birth or death of other prominent authors such as Maurice Druon, Haldor K.Laxness, Vladimir Nabokov, Josep Pla and Manuel Mejía Vallejo. It was a natural choice for UNESCO‘s General Conference, held in Paris in 1995, to pay a world-wide tribute to books and authors on this date…

Migration, Ethnicisation and the Challenge of Diversity: The “Others” in Europe and Beyond
This conference aims to address the construction of identity classifications underlying new forms of inclusion and exclusion that are to be found in contemporary Europe, and beyond. Its scope covers practices of categorization and of resistance, both by majority and minority groups. Anthropologists, social psychologists, sociologists, political scientists and law scholars will meet to discuss the categorization of identity groups through legal and social norms, public policies, institutional practices, social interactions and representations, as well as actors’ mobilizations.
