The city of Paris, together with
Le Comptoir de l’Innovation (Groupe SOS), has launched the
Social Good Lab,
an incubator of tech start-ups with social impact. After its support to the
Social Good Week, that gathered more than 2000 participants in 25 conferences around France, the city of Paris confirms its interest for those technologies that can make the world a better place.
The aim of the incubator is to favor the emergence and the development of projects of Social Good: innovative services, deriving from technologies, that can give an answer to social and environmental problems. Around six start-ups will be selected and will benefit from Paris innovation ecosystem. They will get a number of services in support to the development of their innovation: accommodation, contact with innovative start-ups, partnerships opportunities, access to private and public funding… The selected projects will also receive a grant of up to 30,000 Euros or a zero rate loan from 50,000 to 100,000 Euros.
Call for applications is open until 30 April 2013. Paris Incubateurs, the innovation agency of the city of Paris, will judge the technological innovation of the projects, while the Comptoir de l’Innovation will analyze their social impact. The examples of the projects that can apply are many: technologies favoring self-sufficiency of people with disabilities, solar energy products and devices, applications enabling the collection of gifts or a more responsible consumption… … Social Good Lab is a cutting-edge initiative: it is the first incubator in Europe at the intersection of social and technological innovation.
