Macedonian Centre for European Training (MCET), Foundation Open Society Institute Macedonia (FOSIM) and the Youth Educational Forum (YEF) announced the start of the 3rd cycle of activities and events from the project Action for Europe. The activities began on September 2, 2009 in Kratovo and will continue until Octobr 3 in Gevgelija, Strumica, Negotino, Shtip, Veles, Resen, Prilep, Debar, Struga, Kichevo and Bitola.

The activities and events from the project Action for Europe will provide the citizens with opportunities to acquire information and debate about the benefits of the EU membership, and about the importance of speeding up the process of Macedonia’s accession to the Union, as well as about the experiences of other Member States from their process of joining the EU. These events are expected to contribute to the increase of effort and pressure by the citizens towards all the stakeholders in the process of EU accession, and in particular in fulfilling the key recommendations from the Accession Partnership and receiving a recommendation for the begging of accession negotiations through the EC’s Progress Report for 2009.

The Third Cycle of the project will consist of a series of events for promotion of the European Union, the experiences of Member States regarding the process of EU accession, and the benefits of joining the EU for Republic of Macedonia. It will include debates on the challenges Macedonia faces on the road to EU. Twelve cities throughout Macedonia will host informative sessions, projections of short documentary movies, public debates with participation of the EU Ambassador to Macedonia and the other 13 Ambassadors from EU Member States, as well as experts from European think-tanks, and theatre performances, while the visitors will receive brochures and other information materials about the EU.

This project is implemented by the Foundation Open Society Institute Macedonia in cooperation with the Macedonian Centre for European Training, Youth Educational Forum, Youth Cultural Centre from Bitola, and eleven NGO support resource centers from various parts of Macedonia.
