Green Week Conference 2014
The 2014 edition of Green Week, the biggest annual conference on European environment policy, will take place from 3 to 5 June  in Brussels.
The theme will be Circular Economy, Resource Efficiency & Waste.
A circular economy is the logical solution for a resource-constrained world. It's a place where almost nothing is wasted, where the re-use and remanufacturing of products has become standard practice, and where sustainability is built into the fabric of society. In 2014 the Commission will set out new proposals enabling Europe to unlock the potential of the circular economy, underlining the need to change our way of thinking about design. There will also be a focus on better waste management, and on how it can help the EU use its resources more efficiently.
Green Week offers a unique opportunity for debate and exchanges of experience and best practice. Over the past decade, the conference has established itself as an unmissable event for anyone involved with protecting the environment. The 2013 edition attracted some 2.100 participants from government, business and industry, non-governmental organizations, academia and the media.

The workshop will consist of academics from across the disciplines to critically analyse why the current socio-technical transformations, such as the expansion of social networks and the smart city, should not necessarily be understood as a proxy of ‘social capital’ for a better urban governance. Framed in the context of a society heavily influenced by the promises of Smart Cities, Big Data, smart devices etc., a cross-disciplinary analysis will discuss the side-effects and tensions between being online 24/7 and the subtle notion of #Unplugging, conceived as a rare privilege that only a few members of hyper-connected societies can attain. The goal of this workshop is to provide a framework for deconstructing the on-going discourse of Smart Cities articulating ten dimensions grounded in a critical social innovation perspective and exploring new transitions and tensions in this agenda.

The 2014 EHMA Annual Conference
Hosted by the University of Birmingham, the 2014 EHMA Annual Conference is to take place, for the first time from Tuesday 24 June to Thursday 26 June.
Health systems in Europe are facing unparalleled levels of challenge, complexity and uncertainty. Health system leaders, at every level, have a responsibility to engage with and tackle the enduring problems of funding constraints, technological developments, cost pressures, increasing chronic disease, ageing populations and growing societal expectations and demands.
From the frontline to board level the quality of leadership is a crucial determinant of the quality, effectiveness and safety of health services. Effective leadership is needed not just within organizations but across them, in health systems and networks, across sectoral boundaries such as health and social care, and across the public, private and not for profit sectors. Many of the current challenges for health systems require leaders who can create teams across healthcare and other sectors, lead networks, create a stable and motivated workforce and be accountable to boards, funders, the public and patients as well.
Interactive sessions and several networking opportunities together with an informal and relax atmosphere will facilitate the discussion, the exchange and the birth (or consolidation) of partnerships among the representatives of all health sectors coming from all around Europe and beyond.
