Are you one of those brave bikers who make their way through traffic every morning, dodging cars and SUVs to get to work on time? Then you will be pleased to read that The Times is supporting you daily struggle to reduce your carbon footprint. Last week the newspaper launched a campaign and 8 point manifesto,  for safer cycling,  alling for cities to be made fit for cyclists.

The initiative was launched following the latest fatal cycling casualty, occurred last week when an experienced bicycle courier, Henry Warwick, died after a crash with a coach in Central London.  Mr. Warwick was the thirteenth cyclist killed this year in Britain.

The campaign has drawn great attention  and more than 22 thousand people have so far pledged their support for the campaign which has resulted in MPs securing a three-hour debate, at Westminster Hall on 23 February.

The news came yesterday when the Department for Transport announced 15 million pound of funding for sustainable travel projects, which will fund initiatives for cyclists and pedestrians.
