Freedom of Press in Hungary
In view of the recent adoption by the Hungarian government of a law on the press which clearly poses serious problems concerning the liberty of the press, ALDE has organised an open hearing. The hearing will include a video message from György Konrad, novelist and human rights advocate, Professor Miklos Haraszti, former OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media and Professor László Majtényi, former Parliamentary Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information in the Republic of Hungary.

Education and training: tools for Roma integration
This hearing is organised by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC) in the framework of elaboration of the EESC supplementary opinion on Intercultural dialogue and the Roma by Mrs Anne-Marie Sigmund, EESC Rapporteur.
The main objective of the hearing is to listen to the civil society representatives dealing with the integration of Roma, with special focus on Roma representatives, to ensure that their voice is heard in the European debate. The scope of the debate is to elaborate some concrete solutions for Roma better integration that could feed and enrich the European policies in the field.

?In 2006 the United Nations opened the convention on the rights of persons with disabilities for signatures. The treaty requires that persons with disabilities shall not be excluded from ordinary education merely because of their disability and that they have a right to inclusive education. ?The EU and Belgium both signed the UN Convention. Belgium has even ratified the Convention. But how will this affect the Flemish education policy? How will the EU live up to its obligations under the Convention? ??
