To mark the International Year of Biodiversity this year, national parks, nature reserves and other protected areas opened their doors to visitors in eighteen countries across Europe on Monday 24t May. Europarc Director, Carol Ritchie, encourages locals and tourists alike to take part in the events: «This is a great opportunity to learn more about these beautiful places, the flora and fauna they support and their importance for mankind».
