Questions answered by Sofia Duarte Silva, REECO Portugal Unipessoal Lda General Manager and RENEXPO Portugal Project Manager

Where are you based? Oporto, Portugal

What are you called? RENEXPO Portugal – International Trade Fair and Conference on Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency

What are you doing and why? RENEXPO Portugal will be an integrated and complete event, covering all topics regarding Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency. It is an event which will be held in a country that is in the leading group of Europe and which has very ambitious goals regarding the use of renewable energy sources and energy efficiency.

Do you have a website/email? www.renexpo-portugal.com; info@reeco.pt

– Do you have a Twitter/facebook link/name? Twitter – RENEXPO_PT; Facebook – RENEXPO Portugal 2010

– What makes you so special? RENEXPO Portugal covers all the topics regarding Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency, being therefore a complete event. Moreover, it encompasses, in a single place, a trade fair and a series of international conferences. It is, therefore, an integrated event, being simultaneously a meeting point between the players within the sector and a place for spreading information and for debating these important matters. On the other hand, RENEXPO Portugal features a series of innovative services and events, which add value to this project.

The turning point

– How did you start? RENEXPO Portugal is a concept which already has a history in some European countries. Portugal, due to its natural, economic and political characteristics, is an excellent place to invest in Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency – that is why the REECO Group expanded in South West Europe.

– What keeps you going every day? Knowing that our work is very much appreciated by the players working in the sector – we keep being congratulated for our project and our work, which is something highly rewarding.

– Who is your target? Every player working in the sector – companies, investors, associations, experts, universities, research centres, public organisations, authorities, etc.

– How are you financed? For the “kick-off”, we relied on the financing by our mother-company, REECO GmbH & Co. KG, based in Germany.

The challenge

– A proud moment? Lots of proud moments – when my team is congratulated for the work we have been developing.

– A problem you face? Well, after the world crisis that we have experienced in 2008 and 2009, the economic environment still isn’t the best.

– Your personal motto when things get hard? Put things in perspective – what really matters at the end of the day?

– Another cool project/organisation/campaign you would like to recommend? RENEXPO Portugal 2011…
