Standing up for their rights
Non Profit ID card. G2 Seconde Generazioni, Italy
Questions answered by Jaskarandeep Singh, G2 Seconde Generazioni.
Non Profit ID card: present your project/organisation/campaign
– Where are you based? We are active on a national level. Our legal office is in Rome, in via Marghera 49.
– What are you called? G2 Seconde Generazioni.
– What are you doing and why? We are lobbying for the recognition of equal rights – civil, political and social rights – for the so called “second generation”, the offspring of immigrants; the legal framework actually in force in Italy is concretely discriminatory towards growing portions of the Italian population.
We are promoting an inclusive society, free from stereotypes and prejudices.
– Do you have a website/email? www.secondegenerazioni.it; g2@secondegenerazioni.it
– Do you have a Twitter/facebook link/name? http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=41820491538&ref=mf
– What makes you so special? We all have different cultural backgrounds, together with different origins, and we live and operate from different Italian cities. We are or have been personally involved in the problems that we are posing to the institutions. Our management is democratic, horizontal, leaderless. And we’re all very young!
The turning point
– How did you start? By exploring together our problems.
– What keeps you going every day? The absence of any alternative.
– Who is your target? Political institutions, the offspring of immigrants, Italian society as a whole.
– How are you financed? We finance ourselves with attendance fees for meetings we are invited to and through public financing for projects in which we take part.
The challenge
– A proud moment? Every day is a proud moment.
– A problem you face? There is a lot of work to do and little energy to do it.
– Your personal motto when things get hard? There are more serious problems in life.
– Another cool project/organisation/campaign you would like to recommend? Associna, an association of young Italians with Chinese origins.
