Sweden’s National Audit Office has criticized the country’s International Development Agency, SIDA.

In a report on Swedish foreign aid the Audit Office says that SIDA’s planning for the advancement of political and administrative structures in recipient countries is insufficient.

In several cases the goals of such efforts are not adequately defined, the report says. According to the study this puts the efficiency of developing aid to some countries in doubt.

The Audit Office urges SIDA and the Swedish government to fulfil the conditions of the Paris Declaration from 2005, which contains guidelines for granting and effectively monitoring aid to developing countries.
