Ethical finance

This list mainly draws on the FEBEA – European Federation of Ethical and Alternative Banks and Financiers:

www.triodos.be: it finances companies, institutions and projects that add cultural value and benefit people and the environment, with the support of depositors and investors who want to encourage corporate social responsibility and a sustainable society. It has as offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Spain, and an agency in Germany.

www.credal.be: the Crédal Group is an organization for alternative credit that has developed three product lines (credits and risk financing for organizations in the area of solidarity finance; micro credit available for self-employed persons who do not have access to banking facilities; social consumer credit: for needy persons requiring the basics in life that the banks refuse to finance). At the end of 2007, Crédal has more than 11 million euros in invested funds that represent the investments made by 1.241 co-operators (constantly increasing), and 25% of them do not expect any financial “return”.

www.hefboom.be: Hefboom is an independent business which aims to promote the creation and development of “solidarity enterprises” (or socially responsible enterprises) in Flanders and Brussels by supplying them with professional services in the realms of financing, business advice and managerial support.

Environment

www.green-invest.be: Green-invest invests for you in the study and installation of energy-saving measures and renewable energy and makes you enjoy sustainable management of resources.

Foundations

www.efc.be: the European Foundation Centre is an international association of foundations and corporate funders dedicated to the creating of an enabling legal and fiscal environment for foundations, the documenting of the foundation landscape, the strengthening of the infrastructure of the sector, the promoting of collaboration, both among foundations and between foundations and other actors.

www.kbs-frb.be: The King Baudouin Foundation is an independent public benefit foundation. Its mission is to support commitment to create greater justice, democracy and diversity in society.

Other organizations

www.socialeconomy.be: the Social Economy Unit is the department in charge of preparing and implementing federal policies regarding the social economy. As such, the cell depends of the Ministry of Social Economy. On a functional level, the Social Economy Unit is a Social Integration Public Service Programming (SPP).

www.ciriec.ulg.ac.be: CIRIEC (International Centre of Research and Information on the Public, Social and Cooperative Economy) is a non-governmental international scientific organization.

www.cera.be: investing in well being and prosperity.

www.concertes.be: Concerts platform for dialogue with organizations representing the social economy.

www.ecores.eu/?lg=uk: Ecores, founded by the Non-for-profit Organisation Groupe One, is a consultancy office specialised in advice and studies on sustainable development. It assists companies, associations and public institutions in the implementation of sustainable policies as well as responsible and sustainable management practices.

www.econosoc.be: a web portal dedicated to the social economy and the Belgian francophone associative sector.

www.economiesociale.be: for a social economy in the Flanders and Wallonia.

Philanthropy

www.get-up.be: Get-up is a monthly magazine concerned with the management of sustained development.

www.cev.be: European Volunteer Centre.

www.volontariat.be: Belgian association for volunteering.

www.yaqua.org: a project developed by the Francophone Platform of Volunteering with the support of the King Baudouin Foundation.
