Chief executives body Acevo has set up an advisory group of third sector chief executives to explore ways in which sector leaders can engage more effectively with their employees.
The working group, which had its first meeting in December, will look at how senior staff interact with umbrella bodies and unions. It is expected to report its findings and produce recommendations to Acevo on the most appropriate support and guidance for chief executives later this year.
Jon Sparkes, chief executive of disability charity Scope and chair of the working group, said voluntary sector chief executives needed to be focused on supporting people on the front lines of their organisations
“Constantly striving to improve and develop employee engagement is essential if we are to achieve even more as a sector,” he said.
Mark Lever, chief executive of the National Autistic Society, is part of the working group. He said that employee engagement was “vital for the success of any charity”.
