Urban ecology, climate change, sustainable urban transport, bioconstruction, water management. These are some of the themes included in the curriculum of a new kind of school: the eco university.
di Staff
On February 17 the first eco university will open its doors to students looking for graduate courses in environmental issues. The Ecouniversidad, which is based in Barcelona and is coordinated by Catalunya’s Open University, the association for environmental learning EcoUnion and several NGOs, is open to students of all ages, backgrounds and geographic regions. The courses can in fact be followed from anywhere in the world, as long as you can read and write in Spanish, as it is a distance learning institution.
What does one learn at a eco university? Every thing from urban ecology to anti-nuclear activism. Eleven courses kick off in February and range from 30 to 100 hours duration, people who work for institutions and NGOs have a discount on the price.
Included in the courses for the next semester are courses on climate change, sustainable urban transport, bioconstruction, water management and solar installation design.
